Windows.com

Ah, my first non-freelance job, and at Microsoft no less! My central New York brain couldn't even fathom. I got to work with an amazing group of people who took the time to teach me the ways of Windows and web design. Though my primary responsibilities were those of producing the images used for the website, when the more senior designers were busy with (then secret) Windows 10 envisioning work, I got to redesign the device pages and PDPs (product detail pages). It was a fun exercise that really led me into UX design and helped me find a love for experiences and not just visual design.

Skills gained

Patterns

I quickly learned and used existing patterns from Windows.com to update the page layouts to showcase new Windows 8 devices.

Working with non-designers

This was my first foray into working with both PMs and engineers in order to review and implement the updated designs.

Corporate jargon

This project provided me with a corporate language bootcamp, and now, after 13+ years, I'm an acronym expert.
