American Bear

Shortly after graduating, a friend approached me about managing a Tumblr she had for her most recent movie about a cross country trek that she and her boyfriend had taken while solely relying on the kindness of strangers for a place to sleep each night. In addition, they had made planned stops at each city named Bear, of which there were 5. Managing the Tumblr was the start of a great working relationship that lead to designing stickers, graphics for a motion designer to use as transition moments in their film, as well as a movie poster, once American Bear went on tour. This is still one of the loveliest experiences I've had freelancing.

Skills gained

Utilizing existing assets

Most of the assets were provided to me, like the illustrations and photographs, but creating the map visuals in a way that the video/motion designer could easily use was all me!

Print file setup

This project was one of the first where I needed to learn how to set up a file for printing. Following templates and working with the printers in order to get my sticker and poster files in tip-top shape.

Working for friends

It's always harder working for friends, but I learned pretty quickly how to set and enforce boundaries for our working relationship that allowed our friendship to remain intact.
